You CAN Ask That

You CAN Ask That invites our community to explore ideas about disability, rights and accessibility in an open and respectful way. Many people want to understand more but feel unsure about how to ask. At the same time, people in our community who live with disability tell us they want their experiences heard, respected and understood on their own terms. Creating space for honest questions helps everyone learn, grow and challenge assumptions together.

This project offers a safe and welcoming way for people to submit anonymous questions and have them answered by people with lived experience, advocates and sector leaders. Asking is always more helpful than assuming, and conversations like this support deeper understanding and stronger inclusion across our community.

We will also be launching a monthly You CAN Ask That section on our website where questions and responses will be shared in clear, accessible language. This ongoing space encourages curiosity, celebrates lived experience and keeps the conversation going beyond our live events.

Live Launch at Bunbury Summer Connections

This special edition of You CAN Ask That, presented at the Bunbury Summer Connections International Day of People with Disability event, invites our community to explore disability, rights and accessibility together. Conversations like this help deepen understanding, challenge stigma and highlight the rich diversity within our region.

We are joined by a panel of four people who live with disability and who will share their perspectives and respond to questions on the day. Your voice shapes this conversation, and your questions help guide what we explore. By asking, listening and learning together, we move closer to a community where access, rights and inclusion are understood, celebrated and upheld for all.

Why We Created You CAN Ask That

• To create open spaces where people can ask questions and learn with respect
• To honour people with lived experience and support them to lead conversations
• To challenge assumptions and reduce stigma
• To build a community where every person feels valued, understood and included
• To encourage curiosity as a pathway to stronger accessibility, rights awareness and connection

Together, by asking, listening and learning, we build a community where access, rights and inclusion are upheld for all.
