Exploring the Valley of the Giants: An Accessible Experience Among the Treetops

The Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk is one of Western Australia’s most iconic natural attractions, and it is also a place where thoughtful access design allows more people to experience its beauty in a safe and welcoming way. Recently, our CEO and his wife visited the site, and their experience highlighted how much effort has gone into making the walk inviting for people with disability, families, and anyone who benefits from well planned access.

From the moment you arrive, the commitment to accessibility is clear. The car park includes dedicated accessible parking bays close to the entrance, giving visitors a smooth and direct path into the site. The visitor centre and toilet facilities are also accessible, offering a comfortable starting point before heading out onto the trails.

The Treetop Walk offers two different pathways, and both can be enjoyed by people with diverse access needs. The forest floor trail is fully bitumen, with a gentle slope that supports people using mobility aids, prams, or wheelchairs. Along the way you will find clear, easy to read signs that share information about the local flora, fauna, and the rich history of this ancient tingle forest. It is a calm, grounded way to experience the landscape from below.

The elevated walk, which takes you through the canopy, is also designed with access in mind. Wide pathways, steady gradients, and secure handrails make it possible for more visitors to move through the treetops with confidence. Companion Card holders can access a free entry ticket for their support person, ensuring no one is excluded from the experience due to financial barriers.

Together, these two walkways create a rare opportunity: an accessible nature experience where people can explore the forest from the ground and from the canopy, with each perspective offering something unique. The Valley of the Giants demonstrates how access and inclusion can be woven into tourism in ways that enrich the experience for everyone.
