Thank You, Jethro: A Legacy of Leadership and Advocacy
It is with deep gratitude and genuine sadness that Advocacy WA announces the resignation of our long serving Chair, Jethro Hepton.
Jethro has been a steady, values driven leader in the disability sector across the South West of Western Australia. Over many years, his commitment to the rights, dignity and voice of people with disability has helped shape Advocacy WA into the organisation it is today.
When Jethro first stepped into the role of Chair, Advocacy WA was a small not for profit organisation navigating the challenges of limited grant funding and an uncertain future. Under his leadership, the organisation has grown into an award winning, multi project advocacy agency that is widely recognised across Western Australia.
Today, Advocacy WA is a trusted regional voice for people living with disability. We are regularly called upon by community members, media, government departments, the NDIS, service providers and Local Government Authorities for insight, consultation and collaboration. This growth has not happened by accident. It reflects strong governance, courageous advocacy and an unwavering belief that people with disability must be at the centre of decisions that affect their lives.
Jethro has consistently championed a people centred approach. He has supported initiatives that amplify lived experience, strengthen peer networks and build the confidence and capacity of people with disability to speak up for their rights. His leadership has enabled the organisation to expand its reach, deepen its impact and remain grounded in the communities we serve.
While we are sad to see him step down as Chair, we are excited for Jethro as he takes on a new role with the Training Alliance Group. We know he will bring the same integrity, passion and strategic thinking to his new position.
On behalf of the Board, staff, volunteers and the many people with disability and families who have benefited from his leadership, we extend our heartfelt thanks. Jethro’s contribution to Advocacy WA and to disability advocacy in the South West will leave a lasting legacy.
We wish him every success in this next chapter and hope he will continue to drop in, share his wisdom and remain part of the Advocacy WA community he has helped build.
