Run by Advocacy WA, D Connect brings together people with disability, support networks, community groups, businesses, and event organisers who want to work side by side to create communities where everyone can belong and take part.
D Connect grew from a story we kept hearing again and again. People with disability and their families told us how hard it is to find out what is happening in their community, which events or activities are accessible, and whether a space will actually feel welcoming and inclusive. Even when great things were happening, the information was scattered, unclear, or hard to access. In response, we are building D Connect as a shared space to bring all of that information together. It includes a mailing list and an online platform with community calendars designed to be used and shaped by the community. It is a place to share what is on, what is accessible, what works well, and what could be better.
D Connect is not a static program. It is a living network that grows through the people involved in it. By connecting local peer groups, community mentors, projects, events, and organisations, D Connect creates pathways for voices to be heard, ideas to be shared, and change to happen. Everyone has a role to play. Whether you are attending a group, sharing an event, improving accessibility, asking questions, or learning alongside others, D Connect is about keeping the conversation moving and growing the network across the South West so no one is left out. Together, we are building something that belongs to the community and continues to grow with it.
