This in depth session is designed for NDIS providers, managers, and disability support workers who want to strengthen their understanding of rights based practice and their obligations under the NDIS framework. With significant reforms underway, including changes to registration requirements and the transition arrangements connected to Thriving Kids, there has never been a more important time to ensure your knowledge is current, practical, and embedded in everyday service delivery.
Sarah brings extensive sector experience to this workshop. As a Quality and Safeguards Manager, NDIS auditor, and former Positive Behaviour Support practitioner, Support Coordinator, and Support Worker, she offers a comprehensive understanding of compliance, governance, and frontline practice. Her experience spans audit readiness, NDIS Code of Conduct requirements, restrictive practice obligations, incident management, and translating legislation into meaningful, person-centred practice.
Throughout the session, Sarah will cover:
• The rights of people with disability under the NDIS Act 2013 and the UNCRPD
• Practical application of the NDIS Code of Conduct
• Understanding Practice Standards and what auditors look for
• Complaints, incident management, and safeguarding responsibilities
• Restrictive practice obligations and reducing risk
• Embedding dignity, choice, and cultural safety in daily supports
• Preparing for regulatory and registration changes
Participants will also be supported by our Community Projects Manager, who delivers these workshops in Easy Read format to people with disability across the South West. This dual perspective ensures providers gain insight not only into compliance requirements, but into how information is understood and experienced by participants themselves. The session provides space for questions, practical discussion, and guidance on how to implement improvements within your own organisation.
